I feel that this company has gained a power that is supported by state department of housing. They have homes all over the country and most buyers have been sold a disposable home meaning it will have

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Had many problems. The walls cracked seriously across the living room and the back wall in the master was cracked all the way down the corners and across the ceiling many other cracks on other walls some at the windowsills some just straight down the wall mini nails exposed really a very poor job of insulation of drywall and texturing.

Additional issues that I complain to the state about is that the home was not hardened with the Rule wild land fire code which required them to use shank nails and seal all joints and any nails that were set to far exposing Walvoord that could take in water. And the house is usually built without adding gutters especially important in areas with significant rainfall in the winter and the additional weather of snow the water comes off the roof and straight down the wall into the windows this causes the windows to swell after time and the water that continues to run into the windows creates mold along the windowsill in short order the windows become difficult to open and close. They are to see you the outer window frame but mine were not still part of what should be done to protect from water and or following the codes set by the wildfire guidelines. Now at this point with the siding not being installed properly LaGates the 25 year warranty from the manufacture which is LP siding so if not retrofitted with the ceiling that is required and adding gutters the home will begin to take in water and you will have mold inside the walls I have seen many of their homes with entire walls needing to be replaced because of water damage overtime in fact I almost bought one in another park the price was really low but I was told that the back wall was damaged and needed replacement at the cost of about $10,000.

The company does not follow through with making adjustments to things that are wrong they do everything they can to ignore you an email and phone calls in my case they told me to get three estimates from an outside contractor to come out and redo my interior I spent much time getting those estimates and then they ignored them and still never showed up to do the work nor committed pain either one of the contractors that are you got estimates from. They become borderline abusive in conversation and in response to your dissatisfaction. I also have problems with the floors being noisy when you walked Anna kind of a squeak even the carpet which was extremely cheap and no padding underneath made noises when you walked on it I know its crazy but it was it sounded like walking on bubble packing and popping the bowls. We had serious draining issues between my neighbor and myself water ran across the street and into the area between our homes and it was like a river flooding my yard and going through underneath the fence one winter that river caused all the landscaping cover in the Homes behind to wash out.

While they replaced the groundcover they did not address the drainage problem my neighbor and I did everything we could to try and locate the problem but the problem was coming from across the street and it was beyond our ability to repair but they were informed by myself and my neighbor and still they made no effort to control the water that repeatedly went through our lights and created flooding . The management company is awful I know them as Cascade hall management which was located at the time in Sacramento on Rio del Sol they know longer show an address there but they show several addresses in Sacramento one is a model lot the others may be their offices and factory. When the paradise fire happened we were all asked to sign a waiver to relinquish our rights to our space otherwise we would be expected to pay rent for that space in the interim a time that it took for them to clean up the lots and prepare for new homes. So in this case this left us not able to put another home in that park they only build their own homes in their parks and sell them after theyre built and now they have bought four more in the Paradise area to build their disposable homes it is scary.

This company also finances in-house targeting low income individuals mostly seniors and low income families. Their financing is done in-house as the company is owned by Warren Buffett he owns one of the few finance companies for modulars and they have set the expectation of financing the homes in their parks accepting the type of foundation that they build which is not acceptable to a lot of modular financers. Mobile home financers are sometimes not willing to finance unless the home is on a concrete foundation others must be on private land so this in terrier in-house financing come surprise in my case they raise the price of the house about $10,000 financed me and it did not include an escrow account which I asked for and was told would be the case but when the papers were put in front of me I was told that I could walk away but contract was not going to change upset I did fine because all I had in the world was in my station wagon outside and two dogs and I had no other place to go I had driven four hours to get there and there was nothing much for me to do but to go ahead and sign it . Id later learned that this financing is never reported on a monthly basis to the credit bureaus they tell customers that have low income and less than perfect credit that they would be helping them rebuild credit if theyre going to use their own financing they should report the payments to the credit bureaus so that does show that you have a mortgage and youre paying for it thats the only way someones credit can improve so they scam you there and that just is not acceptable many of us were told that after a year we could refinance if we want to have our payments lower and it was a project that a lot of us in the park tried but were denied because of the scenario of the home and the way it sits on blocks.

They pulled out the wheels from the platform so the home could never be removed not easily anyway so the contingency is if you buy the house you could never pull it out and take it somewhere else . But none of us were able to find refi options so we were stuck and the company was raising the space rents every year. They are cruel and what they do they are unscrupulous and everything they say and do they have no conscience but they stand up with pride with their product which is ridiculous because they all know that they are building a substandard home but they do not take responsibility. I read a case back a few years ago where a home was put on property something went wrong with drainage I believe, and it resulted in somehow the whole deal ended up where Clayton Homes/cascade management repossessed the Home but never addressed the issues of the improper grading of the lot they do nothing the way they're supposed to they do it for their convenience, and then they leave it in the lapse of those have bought their homes.

I spent much time arguing with them trying to be nice sending them pictures sending them fire codes to address the issues with the siding not being installed properly I talk to the manufacture of the siding as well I did a lot of work and a lot of research, it came down to the company did not repair the damage,

I reported them to the state housing agency in my situation.

The inspector came, I swear he must be taking hush money nothing was really satisfied. With his report

All proceeds from clayton naturals should go to scammed ex students!!

Look into this company and please do not give them your money! They used to be an online college and last year (2010) they "closed their doors" and stopped offering any educational services. They refused refunds to all students, after practically requiring students to pay in advance for their classes. They are in the middle of a multi million dollar lawsuit with thousands of students trying to gat their money back--- I personally am owed $4200 by Clayton College, and others are owed upwards of $10,000 each!! Thousands of students!! Look up Clayton College Lawsuit online! May be listed under CCNH lawsuit also. If you read through the lawsuit it appears as if they were planning this for years. In fact, They were still accepting payments in full from brand new students on the same day that they were firing all their staff, telling them they were going out of business! Outrageous! Now they are soliciting students that were burned by them to actually buy or sell their supplement line! If you want to send ME some money, I will make you a high quality, fair trade tincture. Just Kiddin =) Please do not give your money to these horrible people! If they could lie like that I would imagine that they would lie about what they actually use to make these supplements, let alone the treatment of the people in other countries that grow and harvest the herbs required! This reeks of slave trade potential to me-- Just Musing here, but you can't ever know what these types of people will do to others to make (or save) a buck! Save yourself a buck and find an honest company to deal with. If they were too broke to issue refunds, where do they get the money to start/keep a supplement business going? hhmmm... Seriously, look through the lawsuit! Thank you for checking before purchase!

Thanks for this. I've been screaming about it since it happened.

Clayton has the nerve to contact me offering to sell me supplements? I don't know how they have gotten away with this? Maybe we need to all get together and take the supplement business to court. Can we charge them with misrepresentation?

Theft?

Some criminal charges need to be filed. I'm in if someone knows how to get this started.

Thanks Clayton College...typing with an empty wallet

I received a document from the law firm that is allegedly representing all the students who had their money stolen from them via Clayton College. I would like to say I am hopeful I will receive at least some of my money once a judgment is handed down but lets face it; if the peopel running Clayton College were honest folks I (along with 100's of other folks) wouldn't be on this website now would I? The Bernie Madoff College. May the people who stole money from well-intentioned students share a cell with Bernie! Thanks for reading my thoughts.

I just recieved my settlement check from the lawsuit. I paid close to 5,000 and all they gave me back was $300.

Does that sound fair? :x I was expecting at least more than 50%. I wasn't even expecting compensation for loss of money, time, education. I was just expecting a refund of my tuition at least.

Is this fair?

I am curious about other students. How do you feel about this?

Clayton college

I enrolled in one of Clayton College's programs several years ago. Would someone please let me know if there is a class action suit that has been filed and if so, what steps do I need to take to get involved. This is both sad and frustrating especially due to the fact that this is the first I have learned of this closing. I have to type 64 other words before I can send this so I do not know what more I can say or ask in order to get some assistance with my request. Thank you as always.

Clayton college closed w/no tuition reimbursement

Clayton College just announced they are closing. They are a for-profit on-line, non-accredited degree granting university program that require tuition payment up front. The email they sent to students said to not contact them, but here is a PO Box to use for communications. It said NOTHING about tuition reimbursment (and the closing was announced days after students were required to submit tuition). It said hard economic times was the reason for the closure, but enrollment is booming in other similar on-line programs. Rumor has it that they closed because they couldn't get accredited, so their students couldn't get financial aid, so they couldn't make the money they wanted to. I think a CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT should be made against them. Is anyone doing this and how can someone join?

It has been 5 months since I heard of the closing of ClaytonScool. This is "outrageous!"

No one as of yet has contacted me in terms of a law suit against there corrupt way of taking hard earned money from students, without EVER CONTACTING THEM. Are we suppose to just blay down and accept this? Our future education, that we could put that money elsewhere in our future and actually get a well deserved degree! I am newly divorced, and want to continue my studies elsewhere, but do not have the means. I was enrolled in the MS/PhD holistic program - paid in FULL- INCLUDING ALL BOOKS... Is there any hope for us getting our money back?

Thank You,

Laurie Lombardi

Guest

I signed up for the holistic MS PHD program, about two years ago... I was having some personal problems, and called Clayton College last year, expaining that I was going through a divorce, and would not be able to focus at that time.

I had asked to be reimbursed, since I had paid 12K, and would enroll again once my life was more stable. The school told me they could not do that, however, I could take a two-five year hiatus without a problem... NO ONE FROM THE SCHOOL EVER CONTACTED ME BY PHONE OR EMAIL!!! I FOUND OUT THE OTHER DAY WHILE ON AN INTERVIEW!!! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GO ABOUT THIS? WHO TO COMPLAIN TO, SINCE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THROUGH TO CLAYTON COLLEGE BY PHONE... THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR RIPPING HARD WORKING PEOPLE OFF, THAT ARE TRYING TO BROADEN THEIR CAREER AND LIFE....

Thank You,

Laurie Lombardi

Clayton College Class Action Lawsuit Filed

In November 2010, a class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama in Birmingham, seeking recoveries on behalf of thousands of adults enrolled in prepaid distance education programs at Clayton College of Natural Health, Inc. The lawsuit comes in the wake of CCNH's announcement in July 2010 that it was suddenly closing the school and its distance education programs after more than 20 years of operation. The lawsuit alleges that at the time of the closing, CCNH had already collected tens of millions of dollars in tuition from Plaintiffs and a class of similarly situated persons for programs that CCNH summarily stopped providing. After the abrupt termination of its distance education programs, CCNH failed to refund tuition, according to the lawsuit.... If you are one of the many CCNH students, like myself, who got burned financially by the college closing, there has been a class action lawsuit filed! Please go here ---> http://www.ccnhlawsuit.com/

I prepaid for 2 doctoral programs & to become an Herbalist. I think that my tuition was around $14,000.

What about the 1000s of foreign students!!

There is a class action lawsuit, but it only covers plaintiffs in the USA. What abou the 1000s of students enrolled in CCNH who don't live in the USA? I am out almost $4000 and have no idea if I can recoup any of it. I have filled a claim with the Platt River Insurance Company. The claim number is: 150998 for Clayton students. Their web page is: www.capitolindemnity.com I'm curious to hear from other people who don't reside in the US. What are you doing to try to get your money back? What recourse do we have? I'm in Canada. Belladona

Interested in also joining anyone suing Clayton College. Took money and closed school.

I had originally asked for an academic extension to finish the N.D. studies. They granted me an extension of time until May 2011. But they closed their doors in June or July or eveb August of 2010. I'm out $3000.00 I had hoped to continue studies until I finished. It was important to me. I had alreadyt prepaid tuition and just needed to pay for books and the remaining classes. When I called them, their phone number kept sounding busy. Then I looked up on Google to contact them, that's when I found out they closed.

What a shame! The clayton school has been around for a long long time.

There are a lot of satisfied graduates That are currently running their own health care businesses elping people to become healthier.

From reading all these comments it sounds as though someone with bad intentions either bought the Clayton School or became the main administrator of the school. It is truly a shame to find out today once well respected college has become a thief in the night.

CCNH Lawsuit

In November 2010, a class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama in Birmingham, seeking recoveries on behalf of thousands of adults enrolled in prepaid distance education programs at Clayton College of Natural Health, Inc. The lawsuit comes in the wake of CCNH’s announcement in July 2010 that it was suddenly closing the school and its distance education programs after more than 20 years of operation.

The lawsuit alleges that at the time of the closing, CCNH had already collected tens of millions of dollars in tuition from Plaintiffs and a class of similarly situated persons for programs that CCNH summarily stopped providing. After the abrupt termination of its distance education programs, CCNH failed to refund tuition, according to the lawsuit.

Plaintiffs’ co-counsel in the lawsuit are Thomas H. Howlett and Dean M. Googasian of The Googasian Firm, P.C., who may be contacted by calling 1-87*-***-****, or by clicking here or sending an e-mail to ccnhlawsuit@***.com. Joining The Googasian Firm in pursuit of the lawsuit is Plaintiffs’counsel, the Birmingham, Alabama-based law firm, Whatley, Drake & Kallas, LLC.

Defendants in the lawsuit include CCNH and Magnolia Corporate Services, Inc., as well as four individuals, Lloyd Clayton, Jeff Goin, William Fishburne, and Kay Channell.

According to the lawsuit, CCNH marketed its programs as affording students the ability to learn and pursue degree and certificate programs with flexibility as to the time within which they were completed. In its 2008 catalog, CCNH stated that, “At CCNH, the self-paced programs are designed to fit your schedule, so that any part of the day becomes study time and assignments may be submitted at your convenience. In order to help you organize your studies and ‘stay on track,’ degree programs are divided into phases. Although you must complete the phases of your program sequentially, there is no requirement that you take every course in the order it appears in the phase. It is our expectation that you will complete all phases of each individual degree program within five years. At CCNH, you enroll, study, and progress on your schedule, not ours.” But the sudden closure of CCNH precludes these students from completing the distance education programs for which they had paid and devoted considerable time and effort, the lawsuit alleges.

If you have a concern about experiences with CCNH or Magnolia, click here to share these concerns.

The lawsuit asserts breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, and other claims, and seeks compensation for the tuition amounts paid for programs that are no longer available and for Plaintiffs’ loss of time and opportunity, among other damages. A copy of the lawsuit can be found by clicking here.

In accordance with Alabama State Bar requirements, no representation is made that the quality of legal services to be performed is greater than the quality of legal services performed by other lawyers. ARPC 7.2 (e).

Maybe a class action suite? closed kept my money

I am one of the Students who lost my money in tuition fees because Clayton College closed. You may want to call the law office I called, to see if we can start a class action suite. I am almost paid in full for the program that I enrolled in which is close to $5,850.00. That is alot of money. I would like all of my money refunded, as their decision to close the school has resulted in loss of time, money, and is not of integrity. The Law office contact information that I called is below.. Besides the fact that I prepaid $16,000.00 for courses I was never able to complete because they've run like rabbits with our harvest, I, in now way, want to take their advice in anything, nevermind move onto a college aka . . . skam, they suggest. Worse, s the fact that my three years worth of hard work toward credits is useless, non transferable. At the very least we should be able to transfer our credits. I also want Sallie Mae . . who aprpoved the darn loan to be accoutable too. Banks should loan according to both parties accountability and value, not just the payee's.

I graduated from one of CCNH Phd programs over the summer and they encouraged me to order my books and get started on my second phd. Today I emailed my faculty advisors to get the link for my workbooks and they were returned. I contacted the college directly only to find out the phones have been disconnected. they owe me tuitioinb money and I want to be reimbursed for my books. I also have contacted the Alabama Attorney General and filed a complaint. I hope everyone has done this. Good luck to all of you. They owe me thousands of dollars. I want to be reimbursed.

Did you happen to contact Natural Health Magazine? I am sure that they have a free 800 number.

They SHOULD be contacted. It is a crime to advertise for a school that is closed. I got scammed by CCNH out of a pre-paid Phd and the three phase Herbalist Degree! I too want to join into this lawsuit.....No kidding.

I have sent in more of the work in the Phd in the teachout but it is not showing up as being done on my cnnh login pages. Are they just not doing even the teachout?

Guest

same here. ccnh closed without warning, took my money and even said that they "do not necessarily agree" that i should receive a refund.

funny how in the october 2010 issue of Natural Health magazine there was still an ad about ccnh even though the school had been closed since the summer. what a scam!

The complaint is really enlightening in a disturbing way. Continuing to enroll students ON THE DAY they were firing ALL employees, telling employees that they were shutting their doors!

i was employed by Clayton College for 9 years, worked my butt off for them, overloaded with more than my fair share of job duties, did tasks that were outside of my job description, and was laid off when they ran into financial trouble. after working my butt off for them for 9 years, that's the thanks i got.

i am married with bills to pay and have not found a permanent job in the 4 months since i was laid off by them. i have a temp assignment but i think it will be ending soon, like sometime next week. before i got laid off, along with 39 other employees, in July, i had to take 2 pay cuts because of their financial difficulties.

it totally wasn't/isn't fair. can former employees of clayton college get in on this class action lawasuit?

I just learned about this now. I never received an email or any notification. In May I applied for a two year extention and it was granted.

I've paid my tuition in full already - about $2500.

Let me know if there will be any lawsuits!

I too paid for dual program, $7,000. Nearing completion on 1st part and still had the Doctor of Natural Health to begin.

I just found out today that they closed their doors! And it is Oct 31. Not so much as an email, or letter. Nothing.

I only found out because Dr. Haas said so in his newsletter. I have been busy losing my business, home and marriage and have not done any schoolwork in the last 4 months. I just organized my books to begin again.

So I have questions also. Will bookmark this site and come back often.

I've got more than 13,000.00 invested. My credits can't be transfered and they won't refund me the more than 12,000.00 they owe me for courses I prepaid for but did not get a chance to finish.

PS. Sallie Mae approved the loan, I think they should be accountable too.

Clayton College ripped me off

What is to review, the only thing I want to review is a class action law suit. I am disappointed that a school can close and rip so many people off. How is this allowed? I am open to any suggestions as to do whatever it takes to help myself as well as the countless others that were lied to about paying up front. I paid over eight thousand dollars for a masters degree and have nothing to show for it. A trade out program, which is just another game. Some action needs to be taken. If anyone knows of how to form a class action suite, please advise

Lawsuit?? Count me in.

Like the rest of you, I just want my $8000 back so I can move on and get my education somewhere else. This has been a nightmare. I pre-paid for my master's program and am only five courses into my Bachelor's. I have tried my hardest to complete the Bachelor's program by the deadline, but it is ridiculous.

I am furious that they bullied me for the last $2100 of the Master's tuition which they were all too happy to take through Pay Pal only two weeks before closing their doors.

No one in business just wakes up one day to discover their checkbook is empty. They knew about this long before they closed their doors.

i am out about $5,000. ccnh says they don't agree that i should receive a refund even though i did not even begin the masters program.

ccnh has no assets but lloyd clayton does and research has shown that he has committed many fraudulent acts.

this man needs to be brought to justice. we need a class action lawsuit.

Students have a Facebook page "Burned by Clayton College?" and have comments here and on ripoffreport.com.

Send a certified letter to CCNH asking for a refund. (The answer will be no, but that's all the state's department of postsecondary education suggested we do..write a letter).

There's strength in numbers. If we file together it may be worth an attorney's time. Individually I'm out $6000. Collectively we are out $$$$$$.

I'm so very sorry this happened to you! In case you haven't tried the following already: The first thing you need to do is see if you can get any of your money back either through your bank by disputing the charges, or where you got the loan for tuition fees.

They can do a charge back.

The second thing you need to do is talk to an attorney in your area.

Pick any attorney and they will usually take a moment to refer you to someone who takes your kind of case. Usually there is a free consultation too.
